2017 / 2018 AGM and Trophy Presentation

Our Trophy presentation and celebratory dinner followed our Annual General Meeting held on 5 August 2017. Thank you to our special guest Karli Musarra, a former EASC member who has gone on to swim at a National level. There were many young (and not so young) awe-struck faces in the crowd, as Karli spoke about her time at our club and her hard work in getting to where she is today. You never know, the next big swimming star could be you!

Sydney Motorway Corporation Grant

Thank you to the Sydney Motorway Corporation for their generous grant funding to our club. The funds have been used to purchase a new laptop and upgraded meet software to accommodate our growing numbers, as well as a sun-smart marquee.

Battle on the Bay - 2016

2016 was certainly a highlight for the Enfield Swim Club. Our club came 2nd!!!! A number of our swimmers won medals for being the best in their age categories - congratulations! And for the first time Leichhardt Swim Club did not win - well done to Drummoyne!

Club Christmas Party 2015

This year's Christmas party was great fun! Starting with the 1500m race, won by Samantha K with a blistering time of 26m, it then progressed to fun relays and noodle races with the participation of Enfield Aquatic Centre lifeguards and swim instructors.

Heigh ho Silver! Rowen and Andy gives it their all, watched on by Val.

Louis is determined to win this one

We then enjoyed a fantastic feast prepared by Dimitri Noulas' parents (thank you for cooking for us!!) - spit roast lamb, moussaka and pita bread - followed by an array of desserts. Swim club is now on break, but will be back Friday 29 Jan. Have a safe restful holidays and see you next year!

Battle on the Bay 2015

Enfield won 3rd place at the annual Battle on the Bay. As a small club, we cannot hope to compete with the likes of Ashfield or Leichhardt, so 3rd place is very good. We put it down to the 18 swimmers who turned up to represent the club and swam their personal bests - well done team!!!

Read more about the Battle here. Race results for the Battle can be found on the Race Results page.

Fund raising

We are currently holding a few fundraising events:

  • Youth Committee is selling Zooper Doopers every Friday nights for $1 each.
  • Prue and Katrina have organised a Chocolate Fundraiser drive - buy a whole box for $50 or individual chocolates for $1 each. Also available on Friday nights till sold.
  • Bill, Andy and Roger ran a BBQ at the Fraser Motorcycle shop in Concord in conjunction with the Wolverine football club on Sat 21 Feb. The proceeds were shared between Enfield Swim Club and the Wolverines. This was a very profitable exercise - with thanks to the Fraser Motorcycle shop, the Wolverines and our 3 volunteers, of course for giving up their time so generously.

Remember every dollar we raise will be ploughed back into the club in the form of better facilities, catering and equipment. So please help us to help you!

Club Swim Caps have arrived!

We have now received our new club silicon Swimming Caps, which are available for $5 each. These caps will be most useful in identifying our swimmers at the upcoming Battle on the Bay carnival. Our members model the new caps (design chosen by club members).

Australia Day 2015 The Big Swim

On Australia Day 26 Jan, several of our more energetic members joined the Big Swim in the Harbour on a drizzling day. The weather did not dampen the spirit, and swimmers did very well in the 750m race.

Results are:

Congratulations!

Christmas Party 2014

Our end of year Christmas Party was a terrific success. The catering was excellent and not much left over at all. Thanks to Prue for her work and also various members who contributed desserts. We also held our 1500m Championship race, won by Simona Noulas. Well done all swimmers! A reindeer noodles race was hilarious and the Treasure Hunt popular with the younger members. Club breaks till 30 Jan. See you all then!

BBQ Mixer and Bring a Friend Night 21 Nov 2014

The club held the most recent of our Burwood Council BBQ Mixers at end of a very hot day on Friday, 21 November 2014. The best spot to be was in the water. We had plenty of new friends and family come along and one of the more pleasant surprises is the number of very young and more senior competitors that have been participating this season. A number of the races were very closely contested as we are starting to see a marked improvement in PBs (remember to check out your race results). A Big thank you to Scott who valiantly manned the BBQ in the searing heat and to our bevy of BBQ ladies who served up loaf after loaf of delicious sausage sandwiches, followed by a welcome watermelon and cherry fruit platter. The kids especially enjoyed having visiting family and friends -everyone was very welcome and are welcome to come back!

EASC Youth Committee

The EASC Youth Committee was created as a result of the Burwood Council grant, the primary focus is on social inclusion for the children and young adult members at EASC, a number of whom have physical, developmental and/or sensory disabilities. Representative selections of our younger members were invited to participate in the Youth Committee, which met for the first time on 16 Nov. The Committee came up with some very good ideas to foster social inclusion, which will be taken forward by the EASC Committee. The Youth Committee is facilitated by Samantha Pearce.

Update on the Club Room

Many of you may be surprised to learn that we have a space earmarked at the Enfield Aquatic Centre for our very own Club Room. A NSW Sports and Recreation grant is allowing us to fit out a permanent Club Room at the Enfield Aquatic Centre. The room will provide kitchen facilities, which will make it easier to host social functions. It will also have space for our committee meetings to take place and a home for our perpetual trophies. EASC has to contribute in kind, so donations of time, labour or materials from members would be very welcomed. If you are able to assist or would like more information, please contact Andrew Pearce (0438 202

120).

Enjo Tea Towel Fundraiser

A fundraiser has been organised by Prue Ibrahim to sell Enjo bamboo and cotton tea towels. Sample tea towels will be available for inspection Fri poolside. Bamboo tea towels are very highly rated by those who have tried them before. Softer, greener and more absorbent than its cotton counterparts, making light work of kitchen duties. It is lint free, and the antibacterial qualities of the bamboo means it stays fresher in your kitchen. There are 6 stylish colours to choose from - Yellow, Grey, Red or Blue Striped plus a limited edition for Christmas in a Silver or Grey Chevron design, adding a nice touch to any kitchen. Each tea towel is $12, of which the club gets $1.50.

Get Your Spook On 31-Oct-2014

A good night was had by all on Halloween although many of our junior swimmers elected to go trick or treating instead. We had a Bobbing the Apple event with a twist - the kids were in the water! A prize for best dress resulted in some great costumes.

BBQ Mixer and Bring a Friend Night 24-Oct-2014

Friday 24 Oct was "Bring a Friend" night and we had more than 10 friends swimming. This was a great success and we hope to see some friends become regular members. If your friend missed the night, you can always bring them along for a trial on other race nights.

We also held the first BBQ Mixer proudly sponsored by Burwood Council. Swimmers and all enjoyed the snags, fruit and cakes. Here is a picture of the BBQ ladies hard at work!
